What is going on with your pipes?
Pick the one that sounds like your house. We will tell you what it usually means and what we would check first.
What it usually means
One slow sink is a clog. Every drain slowing down is the main line.
If only the bathroom sink is sluggish, the trouble is usually hair and soap in that one trap. When the tub, the toilets and the floor drain all slow down together, something is building up in the main sewer line that carries everything out of the house.
What we would do
We clear the line, then run a camera through it so you know whether it was a simple clog or something that will come back.
What it usually means
A sewer smell means gas is getting out somewhere it should not.
Sometimes it is just a dry floor drain trap that needs water poured in it. If the smell keeps coming back, or you notice it in the yard, the pipe itself may be cracked or a joint may have pulled apart.
What we would do
A camera inspection finds the break without guessing, and you watch the footage with us.
What it usually means
Wet ground in dry weather is water coming from underground.
A patch that stays soggy, grass that grows greener and faster in one strip, or a spot that is starting to sink usually sits right over a leaking water service line or a broken sewer lateral. Clear water that smells fine points to the water line. A bad odor points to the sewer.
What we would do
We locate the line, confirm which pipe is leaking and fix it with as little digging as the job allows.
What it usually means
Water coming up the lowest drain means the main line is blocked.
Backups show up first in the basement floor drain or the lowest shower, because that is where water goes when it cannot get out. Roots, grease and heavy scale are the usual causes. So is a section of pipe that has sagged or collapsed.
What we would do
Stop running water, then call us. We open the line first and find out why it blocked so the fix actually holds.
What it usually means
Weak pressure at every tap usually starts at the service line.
If one faucet is weak, the aerator is probably clogged. If the whole house lost pressure, the pipe bringing water in from the street may be leaking, corroded inside or partly crushed. A water bill that jumped for no reason is another sign.
What we would do
We test the pressure, trace the line from the meter to the house and tell you whether it needs a repair or a new line.
What it usually means
Gurgling is air being pushed around a blockage.
When the toilet bubbles as the washer drains, or the tub gurgles after a flush, water is fighting for room in a partly blocked pipe. It often means a clog is forming further down the line, sometimes a blocked vent.
What we would do
Catching it now is cheaper than waiting for the backup. We clean the line and check it on camera.

How no-dig repair works
A new pipe inside the old one, and the lawn stays where it is
On most lining jobs the only holes are two small access pits, one near the house and one near the street. Scroll to follow the four steps.
- 1The camera finds the damageWe feed a camera through the cleanout and record the whole line. Cracks, roots and sags show up on screen, with the distance to each one.
- 2The line gets cleaned outRoots, grease and scale are cut and flushed away so the new pipe has a clean, round surface to bond to.
- 3A new pipe forms inside the old oneA resin soaked liner is pulled into place from a small access pit and cured until it hardens into a new pipe with no joints for roots to find.
- 4Water flows, the lawn staysThe cracks are sealed inside a jointless pipe. Up top, the lawn, the driveway and the tree never got touched.
Not every pipe can be lined. Collapsed or badly sagging sections sometimes need a different fix, and we will tell you when that is the case.

Small access pits whenever the pipe allows it. When we do have to trench, we backfill, grade and seed or sod before we call it done.
A broken sewer line is never in the budget
Line repairs tend to show up at the worst possible time. Financing is available, so you can fix the problem properly now and pay for it over time. Ask about it when we give you the written estimate.
Photos from our own jobs
Every photo of a job on this site comes from an A-1 crew. This is what the work actually looks like.

Pipe descaling Cast iron after descaling. Rust on the outside, a clean round bore inside.

Sewer replacement Some jobs really do call for a trench. When they do, we shore it and dig it safely.

Cleanout install A new cleanout bedded in stone, so the next drain cleaning is quick.
What our customers say
Word for word from Google. We do not edit reviews.
“My waterline broke underneath the house. The water company was quick to inform me that 147,000 gallons (that's not a typo) had gushed into the drainage system. A-1 was here right away, dug up my front yard, fixed the leak. Then they filled up the trench, relandscaped the front lawn, and two days later you couldn't tell that a bulldozer (with a digger almost as big as my home) had even been there. Now it's two weeks later, and the new sod and grass have taken hold beautifully. More importantly, all that water - a valuable resource - is not being wasted and all is good again. That you guys! Great job.”
Terrific job! Fast, neat and reasonably priced. Scheduled really quickly, too. They had previously replaced a sewer line for us. This time it was a water line, which they did with only trenching at the two ends, then pulling the line through when pulling out the old. Will definitely use again for other projects.
Replaced sewer and water pipe lines. Fantastic service! Jerry and his team were very professional, answered all of my questions, and did the large job of replacing my sewer and water pipe lines. A 10 foot trench was dug and the job took longer then anticipated due to intermittent rain. Jerry charged a very fair price and the work that was done was excellent. I highly recommend A-1 Trenchless.
A1 does and excellent job for us with all of our master plumber needs. We have used them extensively on our government and municipal jobs when we need a master plumber. Jerry has extensive knowledge of all things plumbing and if you are in the area and need a plumber you cannot go wrong.
