Sewer and water line service in Urbana, MD
Much of Urbana has been built since the late 1990s, so most homes here are on newer plastic sewer and water lines. Newer does not mean trouble free. We provide camera inspections, drain cleaning and water line repair for Urbana, MD homeowners and communities.
In a newer house, the problems come from how the lines were installed more than from how old they are.
What we see most in Urbana
In newer developments, the soil around sewer lines was disturbed during construction. If it was not compacted well, it can settle over the years, taking a section of pipe down with it and leaving a low spot where waste collects. Slow drains that keep coming back in a fairly new house are often that.
Construction debris is the other common find. Grout, joint compound and bits of material go down drains during a build and settle in the line. A camera spots them and a proper cleaning removes them.
Public water and sewer around Urbana is provided by Frederick County rather than WSSC Water, so the rules for where the homeowner's responsibility ends can be different. We check before any work near the connection.
Urbana questions
Two common reasons in newer homes are construction debris in the line and a section of pipe that has settled. Both show up clearly on a camera inspection.
Frederick County provides public water and sewer in the Urbana area. The part of the line on your property is generally yours to maintain.
It can if a post hole or a trench hits it. If your pressure dropped or the ground got wet after outdoor work, call us to check the line.
